Becoming green in the 21st Century to maintain economic advantages

A new report on climate and energy presses for the EU countries to invest much more in energy efficiency and green technologies, not just for environmental reasons, but perhaps more urgent for Europe, in order to retain economic advantages.

The new world powers are increasingly investing more into these areas, already aware that the price of oil and gas is rising, and will probably continue to do so as demand for it increases.

The result for us as postmodern European citizens (and we could phase into this North America as well), is that as oil prices continue to rise, so we are all paying more for our energy, and will increasingly become more susceptible to sharp price increases. By starting the transition now, we will ready ourselves for a future that gets ever nearer, especially with many of the oil main producing countries run by potentially unstable Governments.
