The aerotropolis – the postmodern city

Within 20 years it is predicted that there will be some 12 billion air passengers each year. As it becomes ever more difficult to increase airport capacity in Europe, how will future planners cope with this increase? The BBC showed an interesting model for the future: the aerotropolis – a city built from scratch with an airport as its hub, not on its outskirts. Will this model, now under construction in the emerging and rapidly more important economies, become the new design for the future?
