Life’s too short for matching socks

Life is too short for many things, trivial things that we worry about, that actually mean little in the grand scheme. We worry about handing in a report, that in a year (or a week) nobody will even be able to remember. We worry about not having sent an email, or replied to an email. We worry about missing the train, or the bus, when another one will arrive within two or three minutes. And we worry about matching our socks when we empty the washing and so many pairs come out that we wonder if we’ve just adopted the von Trapp family.

This was the advice that a good friend gave me whilst I was on holiday recently, “Life’s too short to waste it matching socks.” And she was right, there are far more priorities in life than matching up our socks. So, let’s focus on the priorities, and start wearing mismatched socks – it could be fun, and who knows, it may even start a trend.
